Overview:
While having an outward feel similar to Matt Wright's WWWBoard, the
backside is a completely new re-write from the ground up. I had originally
started using WWWBoard, but soon came to realize it's limitations - especially
with a popular forum. So I tried to give the new script a similar look & feel
to the original WWWBoard, while giving much better performance on the server
side.
It allows for multi-threaded discussions, with messages being browseable
by message thread, or date posted. Also, as messages are read, any responses to that
message are listed directly below the message. Multicolor autoquoting is supported,
which allows for easier reading in threaded discussions. (For example, user A posts a message.
User B then responds. In user B's message, it will show User A's original text in grey/italics.
Next, User C will respond to User B's message. User B's text will be greyed/italicized, while User A's
is totally removed from the message.) Another feature found favorable by the visitors is the auto-
notification. Whenever someone responds to one of your postings, the system will Email you to let you know
a response has been made. The messaging portion also allows for hyperlink references and image
insertion directly through the form. Lastly, if you have a user accounts manager in place (Another script
set written by me, to setup and validate user accounts), you can protect certain message forums, requiring that
any members have a certain "access key" to read and/or post messages.
